The Quadfather - the home of Peter Norfolk

Alton's two-time Paralympic champion Peter Norfolk made a winning return to competitive wheelchair tennis on Thursday when he beat fellow Briton Jamie Burdekin in straight sets at the US Open USTA Wheelchair Tennis Championships in St Louise, Missouri.

Current world No. 2 Norfolk, who was playing hist first match since April after becoming a father for the second time in July, edged his Beijing Paralympic Games bronze medal-winning partner Burdekin 6-3, 7-6(1) in his opening quad singles match at the fifth and final Super Series tournament of the year,

'The Quadfather', whose impressive collection of 17 major titles in the sport - more than Roger Federer - came at the corresponding tournament in 2001, will now face American seventh seed Bryan Barten in Friday's quarter-finals.

Also on Friday, Norfolk will partner fellow Briton Andrew Lapthorne to take on Burdekin and Australia's Matthew Ingram in the quad doubles quarter-finals.
